Split back to rear Bench seat

I had split back seats in my car and have recently purchased a full set of black leather orig seats and it is the bench back style

i have the car interior ripped out right now and i noticed where the split backs mounted in the middle...a little rod welded under some metal that allows the seats to fold and what not

for the bench back to be installed do i need to cut off the rod ends or even the bracket itself?...i want to make sure i dont put it in and thats in the way or damages the seats they are kinda mint

if anyone can help plz respond

I did the same thing and did not have to remove the split seat mounts on the middle tunnel. They were not in the way although you can see them after the new seat back is in.

those little "nubs" for the split back are held in place by tacwelds, believe four of them....a BFH and a punch will break em with enough hitting, which'll remove the piece and let the seats sit flush and pretty. I wanna say they were hitting my 4th gen seats when i put them in, and was like "that has to go" you don't mess up mint 4th gen ebony leather, just hammer her out.

yeah i yanked the rod out of my buddies 89 when we did a 4th gen interior swap. It hit also. Just cut it off or grind the welds.
