L32 swap is very commen. We have about 10+ or so in the v6 section. Almost a direct swap. Many many s10's have them too.
Car looks good in pictures, but not in person. But thanks for the complements.

KillerRS, your car looks great so far. I can't wait to see it when it's finished. My Iroc's in a very similar state at the moment (entirely dissassembled). What do you use (when it's not on the trailer) to move the unit body around? Mine's just on jackstands in the garage right now, but I'm working at designing and fabbing a set of dolleys that mount to some of the suspension mount points underneath the car. I want something to sit fairly high and that isn't too obstructive of the underside to allow for some heavy-duty body work. Any better/easier suggestions?

Upfront is the 91 GTA I just bought. Behind it is my 98SS. To the left is the engineless 84 Z. First car I ever owned bought in 87. Behind it is the 85 Z. There is an 87 GTA parked out on the street hiding behind the Colarado Spruce tree.

Hell, I'm sure you've seen - or heard - my car then.
As my profile shows, I don't have an F-Body right now b/c I was a moron teenager and got rid of it for a 4x4
Now I'm drivin' a 2K Cavalier sedan. Black, lambo doors on the front, chrome rims in the summer (black steelies are back on now for winter), loud exhaust (cherry bomb usually, sometimes I take it off and run no muffler), used to have 3 antenna's on the back but they're all shaved now. System of course haha. It used to be parked at Jewel on Mannheim & Oakton a lot b/c I worked there.
Sadly, I never see TG's on the street. When I had my 87 Firebird I was like one of three (tho one of those was never driven - it sat at the Shell on River & Oakton), now I only see them at SOW in Schaumburg - and even that's pretty rare.

yea i strongly suggest looking in my area (63303) if you guys are wanting a project car. there are tons of them and although alot of them aren't for sale there's usually a good 5 or 6 in autotrader at any given time...

my dad and i are looking into getting a project for this winter. it's an 88 or an 89 dont know exactly which, Iroc convertible. it's red but needs alot of paint and body work, the middle piece of the spoiler has been stolen, the interior is shot and the back seats dont exist, has a brand new crate motor in it but it wont run b /c the fuel pump went out. the top is in good condition other than the back is curling up but a shop told us that they could glue it back down and it'd be good as new. we're trying to get ahold of the guy and shoot him some offers.

^^ Just looked in your zip code and my own (AutoTrader), no really cheap Firebirds, Formulas, or TA's. Lowest price I saw was like 2275
Probably good condition, but hardly "project" car heh. Good luck w/ that Iroc.

there has to be atleast 20 project cars for sale in my town, theres this one that im thinking of getting for (1982 trans am) 500$ no rust all primer it has a 350 with crossfire injection... its dumping oil like crazy but the engie was rebuilt about a year ago and never driven then brought to a shop to get fixed then they never paid the guy so he aquired the title and is selling it.

Damnit, now I'm a having a hard time deciding. I'm thinkin' of building a 4x4 ... IF my bike sells. A guy, kid really, 16yo, e-mailed me on MySpace asking about buying it so I sent him pics and told him about the two scuffs (also in pics) but I haven't heard back from him yet.
Plus side on the 4x4 is that it's actually cheaper for what I want to do. With a Firebird, I'd be doing so much work on it that the thing would cost a fortune - which I don't have
4x4:
Truck itself
Lift kit
Bigger tires (prolly 35's or so, 39's if I can find 'em cheap enough)
Minor performance mods
Spray bomb flat-black paint job
Firebird:
Car itself
Full aftermarket suspension
Aftermarket seats
Drag Lites skinny/fatty
Mini-tub
Cage
350 TT - or maybe 383 TT
Built auto trans w/ shift kit
Hi-quality paint job
Fiberglass race body parts - 88-90 GTA style
Yea, I'm thinkin' that the Firebird is gonna have to wait a few years

Which just gave me a good question, any of ya'll have cheap 4x4 trucks for sale around ya?? Preferably running so I can get it home... Chevy/GMC preferred, but an Import will have to suffice otherwise. Online searches bring nothing b/c a) there's too many wide-spread 4x4 sites, b) cheap trucks aren't on autotrader/etc sites.

The chrome is still an issue with me. I love the Cragar 390's They look year specific. They have five spokes and all, but the hood louvers are going to be painted trim black and the headlight buckets will be trim black as well as the door handles etc... There would be no other chrome at all. The rocker trim is going to be a subtle silver so as not to take away from the blue. So I thinks I'm stuck with a brushed aluminum wheel. I'll just have to find something close to that Cragar.

Its the 3" Jongblod hood. I would not go any taller as it sure is noticable when you are sitting in the drivers seat.
I also had to cut out some of the underside to clear the stealth ram. It is made for TBI or carbed cars as a funtional cowl hood.
Very nice and needed only a bit of sanding to prep it for paint.

nice! i like the jongblod because it is wider than most of the ones i've seen. it makes the cowl look, in my opinon, more natural, and not just an aftertthought.
