What year firebird body parts are interchangeable

Im going to try to fix this 1990 firebird 6cyl with used parts or even a whole second car. It has 40,000 original miles but the estimates to fix using GM parts is like $6000.

Are all firebirds from 1982 to 1990 interchangeable? I need basically hood, fender and front bumper, and headlight parts

Probably not worth fixing up, but keep in mind the frame may be tweaked.
You'll need bumper, fender, hood, bumper support (honey comb), headlight cover and assembly. You can probably get that all for about $400-$500 used without paint. Also, make sure the door is damaged from where the fender jammed it. But for the most part all the pieces are interchangable. The fenders are the same, the hoods will all bolt up although some are different style, the motor/wiring changed around 87 I believe.

for your setup, you'd be wanting fenders from another firebird, w/ground fx preferably 85-90. Bumper is a Trans Am styled bumper, 85-90 (try the yards, but i believe there might be an aftermarket certi-fit one) depending on how **** you get. Hood from any year you want, any style you want. Headlight 82-90. Marker lamp the same. Get your bumper honeycomb from another 85-90 T/A, buy new, or find a rear-end accident, its not made to be used twice.

Thanks, I just spoke to Hawks and it looks like I can get just about everything from him used. I called a few junkyards around here and they don't really have anything. I think Im going with Hawks.

I wouldn't even be fooling with the car except it has 40,000 original miles and the rest of the car is perfect.

Looks like it was a very nice car.
Buying the parts second hand should be fairly easy.
You should be able to bring the final cost way down, compared to new parts.

Good luck,

George

I saw that, unfortunately that much damage probably will seriously decrease the collector value of it- but must be nice to have a strong running low-milage engine.

Yeah, found it on Autotrader. Its for my 17 year old son, thats why its a 6 cyl

I flew out to Las Vegas from Houston, bought it and drove it back. It was literally owned by a little old lady who only drove it blah blah blah. She bought it new died at like 91 and hadn't even driven it in the last few years. Her son who was like 60 something had driven it a little just to keep it in shape. Too bad this happened, the other insurance co is paying since the other driver was at fault, but not enough to fix the car. It will be a good car for him to drive during high school at least.
