Odds are that if you take that piece off, youll have to repaint it. Either you'll crack the paint, or there'll be fade, and it wont match.... but i think it looks way better w/out those.

man it does look way better.... but im just scared to see what happens when i pull it off, im pretty sure my car was repainted and im hoping that they pulled the trim off when they painted it ( looks like a cheap paint job to me).. i guess i could always put some new stuff back on if its ugly under the trim.

heat gun
heat it up real good first, and apply heat in the direction your pulling it off, it comes off real easy
getting leftover adhesive off is a pain but that will come off too... but yes its very likely the paint wont match there, but being a white car it might not be as noticable? just a guess on that

i pulled mine off and it pulled some clear coat up with it. my car was repainted some time ago too and when they repainted it they didnt take any thing off. the cleared over the door gaurds the iroc-Z stickers and the decal set that came on the irocs. my guess is that yours will end up just like mine and pull up clear coat and maybe even some paint. i like the smooth look so much better and i pulled them b/c the door guards clear coat was peeling too so i figured it wouldnt matter.

Duh
Forgot the pic.
I didn't pull them off, the guy doing the work did, but we were more concerned with reusing the parts because I wanted to keep them, and replacements are expensive.

I cant see it coming off cleanly without a little paint damage.
You can heat it up, thats the way they are normally removed, but they are designed to stay on through car washes, accidents, and minor world wars.
Good luck if you decide to try it.

my car isnt clear coated so i shouldnt have to worry about that i partaly pulled some up and saw the paint still matched but who knows if im gunna pull some paint off, i used to have to buff my car like every week to keep it shiny washing it wouldnt just cut it on what looks like a maco paint job.

Truthfully in my humblest opinion, I would leave them. I like the look they give the car esp. with the gfx. If you are going to repaint the car, they come off quite easily without destroying them, and they can be cleaned up, repainted and reused.

You might be able to see the side of my car in my sig (don't remember what it looks like
). I think it makes the car look 10X smoother, but they did rip off the paint when I removed them. Luckily I was repainting the car anyway.
Edit: here's a better pic...

I say do it. You're car is still fairly common looking and it would give it something different for sure. There is probably 0% chance that it will look fine though because of fading or peeling paint. The only people I ever hear screaming to remove them are Camaro owners. I've only seen one red 91 or 92 Firebird on here with them off and I was undecided about the way it looked. The car was pretty busy looking. Get a good picture and photoshop it or post it here so one of us can. Might give you a better idea of what it looks like.

One thing no one as brought up, is why they are there. It looks real clean without them, But if you drive in the real world in parking lots etc., you need them. One one ding at the door midline looks like %&*@..

Looks good man. I pulled mine off and
RUST! The previous owner used silicone...yes, silicone not adhesive tape to stick them on at some point in time. Man oh man. I hate RUST! At least I got a couple spare doors to swap out with. Gonna look cool for awhile with red doors on my black bird!

I like them either way. But considering it was an extra cost option, I'll leave mine on.

I prefer them off

I use fishing line or even dental floss to "saw" them off. Then I use Goo Gone to get the residue off.
On a white car I doubt you'd notice the paint difference if any.

Jekyl.... u have inspired me. I have been trying to decide what to do for paint for about a year now.
Going with a very similar two-tone line as yours, but black on silver. It's gonna be on a formula though. Think I might even put the hoodbird on her.... Thanks for the inspiration w/your BA ride.

I agree the doors look SWEET w/o the trim, but for practical reasons, and for keeping the door in one piece, I wish i still had mine on the car...
