retro-fitting aluminum dash inserts to GTA

I was thinking about this some time ago and I found this today. I wonder how would it look in a 1991 GTA along with a shifter plate insert or something. Just like 1970s Trans Ams.

honestly thats a unique idea but i absolutely hated that style junk in the 2nd gens...sorry if that was kinda harsh but just always looked tacky to me. Now some brushed aluminum or something else of the sort? That would be sweet.

Dont get me wrong i love 2nd gens! just not that stuff they used in the guage clusters.

had thought about that a long time ago....however, thought a simple polished aluminum look might be better .... something else to consider, ensure that there's no sunglare off the glass, polished or brushed, would think that could get really annoying...apparently thats one of the problems with the chrome bezels on the new solstice.

Don't worry about the harsh and rude reply that made tears come out of my eyes. Thanks for being honest, though I kind of like the idea anyway. Thought about carbon fiber too but then, that's not a muscle car styling cue. Who knows. Any more opinions out there?

I already have the hood-bird Don't like how the shaker looks in the 91s. I think a Formula hood with the bulge would look better.

Is that something you made or bought?

I think it will look good.
I've seen that before in a 91 'bird at the T/A Nats. back in 94.

And it does'nt suprise me that a Camaro owner wouldn't like it, after all, the Camaro was playing catch-up to the '70s T/As all along. Just my honest opinion

There was a kit to put engine turned inserts on early 1980's Firebirds back then. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pictures.

1tinindian: I agree about the Camaro playing catch up. Current 2nd-gen Camaro prices compared to Firebirds of the same vintage reflect that!

Where did you find that pic? Any ideas of a company that might sell that? Any ideas of where can I find an aluminum plate that looks like that, so I can trim it to fot my dash and shifter plate?

I talked to some people, including the company who made the one in the pic, and they told me to send the a pic of my dash to have a better idea. I'll try to photoshop it to have an idea of what it might look like. Any photoshoppers out there are welcomed to post their third-gen TAs dash and/or shifter-plate with the engine-turned aluminum inserts.

I know this post is old, but has anyone found out who makes dash bezels like these for the firebirds, or if you can even still get them?? I've been thinking about something similar myself.
