you can get a chiltons or haynes manual to remove this. it is held on by only a few screws. I beleive it is a filter for the air into the cabin of the car. check out this for more info.

Hi again,
Just look at it close up, if there are any type of fasteners holding it down then use the properl tool to remove it. I have removed a few of these in my days but I can't recall what tool it takes at this moment. If you ever need help hun please PM me.

see the little tab that extends towards the driver's side? That is held in by one of those little one way break-when-when-you-pull plastic fasteners

I will have to agree that it is a break when you pull plastic peice. If you need to remove it, you will need to find a good one (used) or purchase a new one to replace it.
I would say if you are having a tough time with it, or it breaks upon removal, you should hit up a local salvage yard and either get yourself a replacement piece or practice taking one off there. If you break that one~ just walk away.

Not that gender really matters, right?
Yeah, that screen is the intake for the cabin air. I found this out when mine got broken, some leaves got in, and then for the next couple of weeks whenever I turned the inside fan on, crushed leaf bits flew through the vents...

Oh, and to finally get the thing off after you remove the 1 screw holding it on (in the middle), you have to remove the wiper arms... The rest of it just snaps in place.
It's there to keep large debris out of the HVAC system, such as leaves and lumps of snow (but you don't have to worry about snow, do you).
