Are 3rd gen doors swappable?

I'm trying to replace the passenger side door on my 85 camaro. Ive pulled a door from an 83 camaro and attempted to bolt it on. However, it's not fitting that well . Are all 3rd gen doors the same? Who should I take it to to get the door adjusted?

the doors on every f-body from 1982-1992 are identical. you can put a door from a '83 Firebird on a '91 Z28 for example. unfortunetly the variation of fitment from car to car is quite a lot. take it to a body shop. they will be able to align it correctly. I would also take the time to replace the door hinge pin replacement with the kit from Top-Down Solutions, keep that new door from sagging.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll have to take it to a body shop and get it straightened out. How much should I expect to pay? I'm attempting to restore my 85, and I've never worked with cars much.

I'm also going to need to rewire the door. Is there a recommended manual / reference for f bodies?

There's an article on replacing door hinge bushings/pins in the March '06 issue of "Chevy High Performance" magazine.Nice to see the pictures of it being done. This is something I'll be doing in the very near future(at least the driver's door for now). And I'm going to have to replace my passenger door too because of rust along the door bottom(result of missing window sweeps).

Being into drifting I've seen quite a few door swaps, even done one myself. If you crash and the door gets smashed its easier to swap another one on than it is to repair the smashed one. The best way I've found to align the replacement door is to spray a quick shot of paint over the old hinge to leave an outline when its removed. Then when you put the replacement on to line it up you have a template. Not everyone will agree this is the best way since it will leave paint behind but I think it works good. Mainly because I dont really care what it looks like right around the hinge area since its a hidden area. You could only tell if the door was open and someone looked closely.
