Filling holes in metal.

Guys I need your help urgently,

The car is to be taken for a paint job on monday so I have to get things done before hand.

I am having some bodywork done at the shop as we speak.

I will be removing the aero spoiler tomorrow and I will be left with 4 holes. I have a reg. spoiler with break light from a memeber here on its way.

Q1. are the break light holes the same on the aero and reg. firebird spoiler?

Q2. I will take it to a welder tomorrow ($15) and to make life simple he will weld from underneath a piece of metal to cove the holes, either all or two of them depending on what you say about Q1.

Could someone please guide me in how to fill the shallow hole that will be present were the bolts were....

Should I sand it good and put bondo, let dry and sand it smooth?

Please list steps if you have done it.

My other alt was to use some compound with metal properties to seal the holes and then sand.

Thanks guys

I don't know about the holes, but I would assume they are in different postions. Have your welder stick a piece of steel on the underside of the hatch and weld it in place. Grind the weld down smooth and use some filler if you need to. Let it dry and then sand it down smooth. It should not be too difficult to get the surface smooth since it is a pretty flat surface to begin with. Good luck!

i had to fill mine. I used washers on the underside of the holes and then I welded them in. I had welded the tops and then ground them down, filled with bondo and then sanded them flat. took me about 1 hr to fill about 10 holes for my car.

thanks, Washers is what the welder thought of using.

Only thing is that when i took of the spoiler the holes are uneven.... boldging... Got smash them down and sand them before i head to the welder.

Thanks
