trouble with seat belts in my 86 Trans Am. Where to buy spare parts also.
Hi all.
I'm having a bit of trouble now with my seat belts in my 86 Trans Am.
The previous owner had installed Racing Harnesses, and thrown away all the original belts and brackets.
I went and got a new set made as your not allowed to use the original USA
ones anyway, and that cost me heaps! But when I went to fit them I noticed a
few more problems. What I have noticed is you know the plastic stripes that
the original belts pass through on the roof trimming (Black plastic trim bit).
Problem is that the gap in these bits is only big enough for the belt not the clip.
So I have spoken to the guy's I got the belts made from and if I send the belts back they will un-stich them and put the belt through the original plastic trim fitting on the
roof line so the come up as per original.
I wanted to get another set of these black plastic bit's so I have a spare set, and
send these down to get the belts passed through them.
Also I also have to make a bracket to get these new Australian belts housings to fit in the cavity in the roof. The belt guy suggested getting the original brackets and body bolts that are meant to be there and modify them to take the new belt housings.
Of course I don't have any original bolts or brackets.
I was wondering if anyone has any they are willing to sell or know of where I could get them.
The bit's I need are on the two front plastic trim bit's that the belts pass through in black that sit on the foam above your head when your sitting in the seats along the
roof lining, and two original style brackets that fit up in
to the roof with the original bolts.
Thanks heaps.
