Daughter's 87 iroc has strange problems. She noticed the hatch wasn't closed and the motor wasn't pulling it closed so she manually closed it. A couple of days later the battery was dead. We charged the battery and drove car to have battery and alt. checked (both were new in August). They both checked out fine. Husband took off the relay or solenoid (not sure what it was...a little black box looking thing) hoping that would keep the battery from going dead again. Here is the strange part. When I walked around to the back of the car I heard a slow clunking sound coming from the area of the license plate. Now the car is turned off, battery is dead and that little box is out of the car, but the slow clanking is still happening. Any suggestions??

 

I wish the seach option was still available but I think I read somewhere that it is the hatch pull down motor that you can get from TDS in the ads above.
