Do you think it's worth that much?

Hello,

I might buy a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro with a 2.8L V6... The car been hit a little in the front. How much do you think for a body shop to bring back to original condition?

He also say the floor is soft, does it mean it's all rotten?

His driver side window shake when taking bumps, does it need to be ajusted?

A service engine soon light comes on sometimes when driving for a while. It is also hard to start. His hard on fuel too and he did a tune up. Maybe a bad O2?

I offered him 500$ (canadian), I don't know if it's worth that, more or less. What do you think?

if you wanna see more pictures before it got hit, go there: http://odinnus.monchar.com/

The headliner looks like its in good shape, ask if the t-tops leak but it doesnt look like they would. As for the window it may be as simple as just tightening something in the door. Next time you go look at the car get underneath with a flashlight if you have to and look for rust, feel around and especially look carefully at the floor pans. Look for areas of rust he may have tried to cover.

Fixing the bumper and the fender may cost you a bit because the whole piece will need done if you get it done right, and it looks like there are cracks as well, dunno how much that will run (depends if the bumper is fiber glass or polyurthane (spelling?)).

As for the price it sounds alright, just depends how much you want it I guess and what its calue to you is.

The whole interior is in good shape. Except the front speakers aren't there and their's small crack in the dash.

He says's the T-Top doesn't leak, but I don't If I would put the car in a carwash if ti would be dry everywhere in the interior...

How much do you think to repair the bumper, fender and fog light lenses in a body shop?

Yes I wan't the car, I just wan't to know if it's worth 500$ or not.

It have about 80 000 miles too, not too bad.

It's the hard starting that concern me too and the SES light.

I do not think it is worth it. I would save my money and keep looking. There are plenty of cars out there to choose from.

A solid unhit v6 camaro is barely worth $500. I wouldn't pay a dollar for one that's hit and has rotten floors. I'm not sure I'd pay $500 for a TPI IROC that's got rotten floors.

Keep looking.

You could easily part that car out for more than 500 bucks, that thing is MINT on the interior. I would buy it if it was a v8, but if you don't mind that its a 6, go for it.

500$ canadian is about 425$ US by the way...

It's true that the interior seem to be in good shape. Except for a small crack in the dash and the front speakers missing.

Well if the floor is all rusted it will be a parts car. If it's not that bad, maybe I could have someone repair it because it may be worth it.

The car seem pretty clean with low miles...

Oh well

What good is clean and low miles if the floor is shot, it throws codes, and its smashed up?

If you have time, money, and skill to work on it then it'd be a nice car, but paying to have a new bumper installed and painted, floor boards welded, and parts repaired, is going to be many times more than the car costs.

I don't know, any car that runs and drives will always be worth $500 to somebody. If you like the car, you can do a lot worse and usually costs more money. I think if the guy will take $500, I would go for it...just dont go crazy spending money on it unless it is worth the money being put in. If the floors are rotten, I wouldnt spend a whole lot making the car better than it is...just drive it as is and sell it later down the road for a better one.

Buy it, part it, drive it, what ever you want to do is your choice. I picked up this car for $850 from here and the guy I bought it from stated to me no problems, no rust all is great. Well I should have known that I would find problems, rust, etc but I have spent alot of time, JY searching, buying parts from here and there but I guess in the long run it will be worth it.
