rust upper strut mount on 89 IROC-how do I fix?
How would I need to repair a rusty upper strut mount and inner fender liner on my 89 IROC? There is obvious weakness in the area, and needs to be repaired.

Engine: SPDC 360 MAF EFI /w a Holley Stealth Ram
Transmission: T5 untill it blows up from to much torque
Axle/Gears: Ford 9" /w auburn pro & 3.89's
How bad is the rust?

The rust is bad enough that it seems to have weakend the structure. For example, when I push down on that corner of the car I can see the metal move up and down. I spoke to a fab shop today and they are going to reinforce the area and I also ordered a strut tower brace. Hopefully that should fix the problem and keep the car safe to drive.

Ignoring the real problem won't help. What you need to do is take out the strut and upper strut mounts, Cut out the problem metal, and patch in new metal. You could even find a car in the J/Y with the rust in that spot and transfer it the metal over.
