Both my driver and passenger seat belts do not lock when you pull on them hard,like if you hit something they woudn't hold you back. My question is I'm sure I can use seatbelts from 82-92 Camaro. Can I use the same from 82-92 'birds,TA's or any other year,make gm model? I figured i would just unbolt the assemblies and swap in new ones.

 

Alot of belts do this and work fine also. The ones in my truck do the same thing at times. You pulling on it does not in any way simulate how fast they react in an accident. Wanna sure test? Do a 70mph-0 stop and see if you feel em working.

 

I was just concerned because:
My 4 yr old nephew LOVES to ride around with me on the weekends. God forbid something happen!
When I bought the car the Driverside wouldn't retract all the way. I had to replace the headliner. When I took it down I noticed that the passenger side had a different looking retracting mechanism than the driverside. Also I got the DS to retract. I popped a plastic cover off and theres a littlehook looking thing that's lays inside a wheel with some groves and stops in it.Played with it until the belt retracted,but it sometimes pops out of the grooves and the belt won't retract again
