Hi/Low Beam Linkage? Need Help!!

I was ripping apart my steering column last night to tighten down those 4 torx bolts b/c its a little loose. Lets just say it's not going too well. Thats another story though....

My question is this: What is that plastic piece called that attaches to the hi/low rod and extends to the turn signal lever? I put the column together quick to see if I could fix that, and they were stuck on brights, then redid it and now its stuck on low beams. The switch does not activate when i pull the lever for hi/low.

What piece do i need? Or what am I doing wrong? Is there anyway I can rig that plastic piece to stay put? When I pull the collar off, that plastic piece just falls out, and when I activate the lever for hi/low it clicks (sounds like that piece slips off the rod) and i take it apart again.

Sorry for the confusing post, its kinda hard to describe something without knowing the name of something.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Based on your description it is kinda hard to tell, but it sounds like you might be talking about the pivot switch. This is the upper part, correct (the lower part is the actual dimmer switch)? If it is damaged, you may have to simply replace it. They aren't really repairable. Pictures always help of course.

This is a pic I found on some dude's article about doing the tilt repair...

Is there a special name for it so I can just get a new one? It falls right off, unlike in the pic.

ok, I found that part, so ignore above post

Now I was wondering when I'm putting my steering column back together, should I get anything else? Or can I re-use all the original pieces. I saw on rockauto they have a couple seal kits for the steering column????

I'm going to try and get a new turn signal lever as well, since the one in there is really loose. And since im replacing that dimmer switch activator, I may as well fix them both.

Thanks
