Ignition lock cylinder replacemnt

Okay so I'm in the middle of replacing (or trying to) my lock cylinder due to it being worn out and the final straw was loosing the keys. My question is im down to the steering wheel lock plate and I cant ge the damn thing off. I'am using the special tool for this the lock plate puller pulled the lock ring off but the plate still wont come out. I compressed the spring and pulled the ring out likeI was told to but still nothing it wont budge I was told it should just pull right out after that ring comes out....is there some special trick to take this thing out??? NEED HELP!!! thanks

No, you should just loosen the nut on the tool and the pressure from the spring will force the plate up.

I was just into my column over the turn signage cam. If you have removed the lock plate clip. The lock plate "should" slide off the shaft. If not, try a little penetrating oil and tap it with a hammer. Note I said tap not bang!

The round clip is the only thing that holds it on. There is a spring behind it that should force it up. Maybe there are some burrs on the shaft of the column. Might try pressing down on the tool with it loosened up and work the plate in and out until it breaks free, or what ezliving4ume said and tap it with a hammer. I would leave the tool on loosely so you don't get hurt when it breaks loose.
