New Gauge cluster swap

Engine: 305 HO.
Transmission: 350 turbo
New Gauge cluster swap
Hi all,
So I swapped out my gauge cluster on my 84 Z to the 115 mph cluster. Everything went will for on thing. I broke the speedo cable the plastic end that goes in the tack. Anyways I bought a new one at AutoZone for 5.99, since my car is manual. I have replace it 2 twice now, they keep binding up and tearing then self apart.
I need so tips, I think Im installing this wrong or something. Please give me some advice please
