Cowl Hood

I just installed one guys and It won't shut all the way. It stays propped open and the only thing thats kinda holding it down is the hood release latch. Any common reasons of why you think it's not closing? I have a 87 Iroc with a 3 inch harwood hood.

is it bowing on the sides or the latch just won't pull it down or something else.

Is this a fiberglass hood? You may need used hood shocks or hood shocks made for fiberglass hoods.

Yea its fiberglass.

The hood will go down as if it closes normally, but the point where you slam it shut so it latches in place and stays locked won't happen. That's where my problem is. It won't slam shut, the hood stays down so I don't think it's a problem with the shocks.

my hood on one of my cars doesn't want to shut sometimes because the spring on the latch is missing.

Another thing you may have to do is adjust the height of the latch or the rubber spacers that hold up the hood. Or mess with the latch, maybe it got caught in the closed hood position.

How would I be able to adjust the height on the rubber spacers?

I was also thinking this was the problem, but I wasn't sure how to adjust it. I appreciate your help.

Before hood pins, I had to lower the rubber spacers till they bottomed out, then I had to lower the hood latch almost all the way. Hood still stayed up.. so then I ripped everything out and put in locking hood pins.

Fiberglass is a pain, every single hood is different too, so you will have to custom fit yours different from everyone else.

Yea, my friend fixed the problem. It was the factory air intake (the black plastic cover) which was the problem. It was making contact with the inner side of the hood. Thanks guys for helping me out.
