Bad spot on floorpan need advice!

i have a golf ball sized rust hole on the rear drivers floor plan. is this a major thing? the rest of the car is solid just that spot. also wondering if i can pop rivet a piece of sheet metal over it than undercoat it?

Check out POR-15 products. I had rust, a six x two section under the driver's side foot well, which I repaired several years ago and which is as solid now as it was then. Highly recommended.
