What year is the car? Because different years had different motors, and some are harder to find than others. You can check out Top Down Solutions (a sponsor on this site) they have a pretty good selection of hatch motor parts.

Also, this has been brought up a million times before...

Ya, this has been brought up plenty of times. There are a couple ways to go about it though. You could buy a whole new one, which will cost you quite a bit as you've seen. Or buy a junk one that doesn't work and rebuild it. If you can figure out what is wrong with it then replace it.

That's what I did with mine, my hatch pull down unit was gone and I got a freebie one and basically made one good one out of it.

I just rebuilt mine the other day. The crappy plastic gear inside the equaly crappy housing cracked in half. I got some 3500 PSI plastic bonding epoxy from autozone and put everything back together. after 15 minutes the stuff was as hard a rock. Then I used parts from an old headlight motor to repair/replace some worn out connections in the motor itself. Works fine now. And in the end I only spent $5 on the epoxy and $10 on the headlight motor....A whole lot cheaper than paying $110 at autozone for a new one. Or $225 from Hawks.
