Fastest way to get paint off?
Hey everybody, im finally working on the 92 camaro rs heritage which was my first car, that ive been driving since i was 16 (am 21 now), pretty beaten up, rust's starting to take over around the wheel lips and couple of spots on the doors and front window rails (2 new little holes)will take care of them.. Ive done body work on my 1979 camaro with sand paper and all that, it turned great but i rememebred how long it took me, so just am lookng faster way out.. So i got to ask is whats the fastest way to rip the paint off till bare metal? i want to hit everything over it. those paint strippers doesnt work AT ALL, and sanding takes forever.. im using a 8000 rpm wirebrush, and its taking me 2 hours for 1/2 of rear quarters and the roof is hell and not even done.. so was curious what do you guys have that you could share.. THANKS EVERYBODY..
(an old pic of the car when its in a better shape, now its just plain rusty.. time to get it brand new again

Well, Ive always had the best luck using those strippers. You have to get the Aircraft Stripper...its in a blue can with white...like a brown jelly. Real nasty stuff, but removes paint very well if you follow the directions. Other than that, you could try a 90 degree air grinding wheel if you have access to a decent compressor.

paint stripper is going to be your fastest option, the aircraft stripper works, get the brushable stuff in the big container, keep it out of the sun and let it setup till the paint starts bubbling
dont use a wire brush for a big paint stripping job, aside from taking forever your going to heat the metal up and possibly warp something

paint stripper.. works and does it well.. follow directions and like dr1 said, keep out of the sun and let it do its job.. i used the brush on stripper then used a putty knife to scrap it off.. beware that the stuff will get hot.. and dont touch the stuff either..

Make sure if u use the striper. To mark all the dents with some 36 grit before striping it.. That way U will know were needs to be fixed.......I like stripping with a 8inch DA and 40 grit.. but its slower

also if you have a drill and some time use a stripper wheel from like walmarts for $5.00 aircraft remover works the best but if you dont want the mess and smell just use this wheel on your drill

i would't go down to bare metal except where the rust and dents are.
go over the car with 500 using a block, or if you have a d/a get a surface pad and 500.
stripper is a mess.
i would be safe not lazy, sometimes trying to cut time makes problems.
