It's been a couple years since i did it so im kinda fuzy on what it entailed, but if your motor burned out and you dont want to replace it this might help. Remove the pulldown assembly and somehow or another you can get an electric drill onto the big screw part that pulls it down, screw it all the way down and reinstall it onto the car. I dont remeber if you have to take it all apart to get at it, but I think the whole job took me less than 1/2 hour. My electric pop still works fine, I just gotta slam the hatch down by hand rather than having it suck in by itself.

My buddies camaro's pull down motor burnt out and the gear was cracked. he didn't want to buy a new one cause he didn't want to deal with it if it happened again. I took the motor off the latch portion then shut the hatch. I crawled inside the trunk compartment and pushed the latch up the guides until it locked to the hatch, then I marked the location with a marker, opened the hatch, and welded the latch in place on the guides. Best thing I could think of. You just want to make sure it's welded down far enough to keep it water tight but up enough that it latches easily. Hope this helps. Jamie
