18¢ window stops

I finally found a use for those old rubber sway bar end link bushings. I bought 1/4" bolt by 3/4" with matching washer and nut from home depot (cost 18 cents a set). Drilled a hole in the bushing and cleaned the hole in the window track.

Nice job.... I've been procrastinating coming up with a solution to replace my missing stop. But that gives me an idea..... maybe I can use the shock bushings I just pulled off to do the same thing.

Why would you want window stops?

Yea, mine will go down so far that when you roll it up, it catches on that trim strip on the outside that prevents water running down into the door. Ideally, you want it to stop going down past the little pads that are on that window trim strip.

Maroon, are you familiar with how those window are aligned in there? If not, I'll give you an idea.... On the inside of the window, you have 2 metal pieces with felt pads on them that push out on the window. On the outside (built into the weatherstipping seal thingy that runs the lenthth of the door that keeps water from running down into the door itself), you have some pads that push in on the window and oppose the two inside metal ones. The window is sandwiched between these inside and outside alignment pads.
Possiblilites:
a) the felt may be worn off those outside pads (but I wouldn't think it would scratch the window itself, but who knows)
b) that outside window seal is attached to the door by many screws. I wonder if one or some could have backed out enough to scrape your window.
c) I have no clue whether or not something in the window mechanism itself could be scraping.
