Anyone ever replace the motor that pulls down the rear deck lid. Looking for hints,time frame, and potential cost.

Thanks found several places that sell it. The pdf had great insturctions on replace the motor. I'll keep you posted on replacing it goes.

I'm fairly interested. My gear nut is scrap and the clear plastic housing is cracked in half... and there's probably more wrong with it that i cant see .

 

actually its not that complicated. get the stronger housing from TDS along with the gear and then crack open the unit. if your unit yses the snap washer on the push rod just use a VERY small flat head to pry the tang back and it will come off easily.
as for up down adj of the gear, just be sure the switch tab is bewteen the tabs that bump the switch. and dont over tighten any of the screws.
as for adj on the hatch, i just loosly bolted it in and let the hatch down, once it was full down i just cinched the 3 bolts down and all was good.

 

I finally got my housing, new gear, and sliders installed. I purchased the items from Hawks but they resell the TDS stuff. It took a few tries to get the new gear adjusted correctly. When adjusted properly you should not need to assist the hatch in closing or opening.

 

i bought mine from a junkyard for 20 bucks ,the whole setup.took twenty minutes,and it worked great

 

you got lucky, most of the units in the salvage yards are usually busted in some way. atleast all the ones i have seen were.

 

i got one off of ebay for 60 it worked about 2 times and broke

 

Ok guys, Here's some pics of my hatch pulldown. I've owned the car about 2 yrs and it's never worked. Decided to take a look at it today and realized that the motor is missing...probably more.

I'm considering ordering the parts to fix it from TDS, I just need to know everything i need to get.

Yours is a 1991-92 motor. New motors aren't available to my knowledge, but I have the used parts to rebuild or replace yours. Contact me.
