What is the best way to remove window adhesive

I got a replacement deck lid for my car that has a massive bead of window adhesive on it right now where it meets the hatch glass. What is the best way to remove this adhesive? It is definately sticky and messy. So far I have been able to pull some of it off by pulling on it.

I'd just like to know if anyone has any "tricks of the trade" that may work.

try a straight razor (like the blade from a box knife). If it goes onto the rear defroster, try hot water. That method always works for me!

I did not clarify in my initial post. The bead of adhesive is on the underside of the decklid, not on the glass that I need to remove.

Any suggestions? I was wondering if there is something I could spray on it, like brake clean and rub it off with a rag. Or maybe I should just remove a majority of it and reseal it on the new decklid?

brake or carb cleaners work good on sticky substances but depends what it is even though it should work usually takes everything off anything.

I ended up using a flat blade screw driver to take most of it off, just leaving a small coating on the decklid. Then I took a rag loaded up with brake clean and rubbed the rest off. Took about an hour to get it all clean.

Then I sanded, primed and painted the underside. It should be ready to go on the car this coming weekend.
