Front clip and side fender removal
Does anybody have a list or instruction guide on how to remove the front clip and both front fenders on an 89 RS? I started today trying to find all the clips and bolts, but i cant find them all. Also, is there any trick to getting those big plastic clips that you pull the center out to remove to come off any easier than prying the tab up? Some of them wont come off for anything.
Thanks,
Andrew

hey man i cant help you on all the bolts you need to take off but i do have a tip on how to get the clips off easier. Just get some cutting pliers and cut off the top of the plug(the little clamps) and then just push down and that should make it a hell much easier.

i can tell ya how the fenders come off. in the past few days i have removed 4 fenders switching to the TA ground effects and fenders
there are 4 bolts holding the front bumper cover to the fender thos are the most annoying ones so i go after thos first. it really helps to take that triangular support bracket off first to get to it (firebirds need to put the headlight in the up position)
then use a pair of wire cutters (the kind with the angled taperd nose. pretty much the most commonly found ones) then on both sides of that little tab get the teeth under each side then gently work it out taking care not to mar or bend the fender.
Then there will be a few bolts on the inner fender liner. Drop the inner liner and move on to the left lower fender. There will be 2 bolts if i remember correctly and 1 bolt on a lower rail (easy to see this one)
Either remove the hood or brace it very very well. It pays to have assistance doing this. Then along the top of the fender there are a few bolts and a few in the hood hinge (you did unbolt the hood right?)
Drivers side just slides up and with a little effort wiggle it off the studs. The passengers side requires removal of the antenna. That little ring holding it on can be stubborn and im not sure what tool is supposed to be used on that. once you get that ring off its the same for that side just with a little more work to keep from damageing the fender.
Its nothing grand but i hope this might help in some way. I have my fenders off currently if you would like pics of everything. the front bumper cover is still on but im sure its not that much harder.
