hood flaps

i have a 83 cross fire injection camaro. the car has a ram air system from the factory. it has two little flaps that are supposed to flip up to allow the ram air. does anyone know where i can get a new motor or something for it?

if i remember correctly, it's been a while since i've seen one. those are vacuum operated.

can I get something straightend out? Were some of these hoods electronically power and others vacuumed? because mines electronic but you're not the first to say they were run on vacuum. so whats the deal?

All the functional fiberglass hoods('82-'83 CFI cars are the only ones factory equipped with functional hoods)are electrically controlled.There's a solenoid in the air door assembly that opens the doors.It's actuated by the ECM,thru a signal from the TPS,at full throttle.But the system works only after the motor reaches normal operating temp and only when the trans is in gear.You can check the solenoid by running 12VDC to it to make sure it works.Mine had an intemittent problem that turned out to be a loose ground at the fender next to the hood hinge.
