broken strut tower

broken strut tower

im lookin at a 91 rs that i was interested in buying ... but when i was talking to the guy he said the car had a broken strut tower... so im not so shure any more... is it fixable or a car to stay away from? and if it is fixable what would it take?

The only way I see a strut tower braking is alot of rust or a collision. I'd get pictures and see.

i guess its not too bad the guy said they drove it around... but i guess its bad enough that it should be replaced. he said he doesnt have any pics

I'm not too sure about just "replacing" a strut tower. There is a lot more to it than just that, you dont just replace a strut tower. I would say he either is trying to describe a different part that he is just CALLING a strut tower not knowing what he is talking about, or there is some serious damage that he is driving around on, in which case I would look elsewhere. Still, take a look and see whats really up.

Maybe he meant to say strut mount? That would make more sense. There's no way I'd drive a car with a broken stut tower.

I don't understand how you could drive around if the tower broken? Wouldnt that be like driving with no strut?
