not sitting level rear end?

so yesterday i pumped all my tires up and noticed that the rear end of my bird looked to be dipping to the right. I saw this before but figured it was because the tires were low. then i thought it was my driveway so moved it and still has the same problem. the rear driver side wheel has about 3 inches between tire and wheelwell and the pass side has about 6 inches so u can imagine how it sits. could this be due to wrong sized shocks used or something like that?

man thats sitting really off!

check you control arms to see if they are even. check your shocks too .

and finally check your springs to make sure they are sitting correctly on the rear and in the spring pockets on the body.

also check the front springs as well to see if they sittin correctly. front springs can shift rear end off too. i know mine did when the one wasnt fully seated.

The shocks aint gonna make it lean, you can take the shocks off a car and it will sit the same height as it did with the shocks on. You got a spring problem, or the body is twisted from the flex that our cars are known for. But i doubt its flex since there is that big of a difference. 3 inches one side, 6 on the other. My camaro leans the right just a little too. I am gonna look into that soon.

When was the rearend replaced?
I doubt a spring is broken with 3'' & 6" gaps.
It's possible that the spring isolator was put in wrong and is causing the difference. To check your springs just have the car up on jackstands, then support the rearend with a jack, remove the lower shock bolts and lower the rearend down enough to remove the springs. You may also need to undo the sway bar from the rearend before lowering it
The isolators have a groove in them that meets the top of the spring. They should sit basically level when on top of the spring

you might be missing the isolator all together

before you take it apart get under the car with a flashlight and look at the side that is sitting higher

take a look at the area where the spring meets the body. there should be a rubber donut looking piece inbetween.

now that you know what it looks like check the other side

the very end of the spring coil, closest to the body of the car, should be sitting in a groove on the underside of the rubber donut(isolator).

if this is the case on both sides of your car then check the bushings in the lower control arms and whether they are bent or not

make sure the rear end links are not bent. you will be able to tell if something is way off while the car is in the air

if it all checks out you will be buying springs, yes new ones. measure the front of the vehicle to see the amount of drop you will need in the rear to match the car up. You will need around 1-2 inchs of drop to have a nice stance.

I had a similar problem with the right hand isolator on my bird. The isolator, as they said, is a rubber donut, but has a steel face on the side that the spring meets with. On mine, the steel face had rusted through, and the spring was basically pushing through the unsupported rubber. Once I replaced it, the lean went away.

my 82 with same problem plus offset

Hi guys well i got ya fix at hand my 82 was drag raced in Ga with a 400 and a 350 lock up that was the start. The 400 twisted so hard it ripped the lower left and right mount bolts out allowing the 400 to rise upand mesed the hood and other stuff up. They had hand made the crossmember as well to hold the track bar this put all that force to the mid and rear of the car. I bought the car right on the strip for 50.00 and towed it home 4 years ago. We re set the mounts and fount it was a v6 car to boot. The rear in mine has had new springs , shocks and still no luck we final got intouch with barnett preformance in ATL and they had us put a new panhard rod that adjusts and a track bar that took a lot of the twist out and had the rear close we finaly put the second lower pan hard rod in and that fixed it. The factory pan hard rods in the rear hold the body and the rear in place if the body has seen and hard times i.e. led foot the cars have been know to give 2 to 3 inc and over time they just stay that way t top modles are the worst ones. Mine is a t top the tops in mine have new seals and still leak the 82 to 89 cars are faster becouse thy are light construction and cant handel what most of us guys would like to see them do. That is with out spending lots of cash.
