AVERAGE COST FOR PAINT JOBS?

I am looking to paint a camaro 1988 what is the cheapest paint job i can get, i dont really care if it looks great, i just dont like the 3 differant colors on my car, my dad refers to it as a "hooptie"so i want to get it in to one solid color.

Cheapest Job?

Thanks

that depends what you think is cheap. i'd say the cheapest you could go is spray cans. if you want to use real auto paint, go to Maaco.

Even a decent enamel paint job will probably run in the range of $800-1500 depending on how much prep work needs to be done, you have to figure in primers, filler, sandpaper, tape ETC, it actually takes quite a bit of supplies to paint a car and prices are up over the last few years over 60% ... and that would be for a repaint to the same color if you want to change colors ... it's going to be more money...

Probably a 3 on a scale 1-10 (10 being the hardest). Expense would be roughly $30 for paint. Don't forget it'll look bad once you're within 50 feet of the car (literally), you'll never have that shine like "real" paint and clear coat has, it definitely won't hold up like high quality paint- you'll see peel and chips in a few years, and you still need to prep the car. Prep work is the hard and time consuming part. Whether you spray can it or use good paint, it still takes the same amount of time. I'd say do ALL the prep work then bring it to Maaco and have them spray a coat of paint- it won't cost more than $500.

Did you happen to notice the part that says as low as $199 PER PANEL !! that would figure out to around $1800 +tx for a whole car + dent repair I have seen some shops that will paint any car for a set price but the quality is poor at best ... you just cant do it cheeply anymore and get quality work ..

This paint is as hard as a rock. My Dad did it on his 79 Chevy Pickup, and it is HARD. If you prep really good, it should last for a long time.

::bookmarks thread::

I might actually look into this. I mean if the guy is willing to paint his Charger like this, well then I think it would work just fine, especially for my Third Gen, lol.
