Clear coat problems... Help!
Well, a couple of years after my mom bought the bird new, someone slid into her and the nose and fender had to be repainted. they must have used cheap paint because now im having trouble with the fender and nose fading. just recently the clear coat started peeling starting at the edge of the nose where it meets with the hood.
is there any way to stop the peeling once its started so it doesnt get any worse?? thanks!

nop no really unless you reclear it but if you are going to to that you miles well fix it the right way. The clear is pelling prob cuz they did not scuff up the old clear enuff for the new clear to hold on (that if it was blended).
try putting clear nail polish on the edge of the peel to keep moisture from going in between the two layers of paint i agree with fanatic the clear below was prepared for repaint properly. the peeling probably started with a tiny rock chip. keep an eye out for these as it will start peeling in these areas...do not go through car washes that utilize pressure to clean the car

i definately agree with what you guys saying. i think the reason it started is because i buffed alot on it this summer with an electric buffer because it was fading. i probably burned the edge of the clearcoat off on the sharp edge of the plastic. and because they didnt do a very good job of painting it, it started peeling. Oh well, the car needs new paint anyway. if i were to re clear it myself, do you guys think i would need to sand all of the old clear off? or just get the peeling part taken care of and scuff up the rest real good.
