Hood pin orientation + rear hatch pins?
Ok I made it to page 8 searching for hood pins...
I have a few sets (3) similar to these...

The most common way I see these oriented is so you pull to the side. I've read they claim that this way the driver can tell if the pins are in. HA! No way I can see that far down my hood. Seems like a ***** thing to me.
Anyways, the only other way/reason I've heard was to put them so you push the pin in to lock as opposed to pulling it towards you to lcok (this coming from a fellow rallye driver) so that if you nose it into the brush, there's less of a chance for the pins to come undone. If nothing else, I'll probably end up installing them this way.
And while we're on the subject, someone mentioned the hatch glass breaking if you pin the decklid?

What's the validity of this claim? I bought 3 sets with the intentions of using one set for the hatch, and one set for the front, and one from the 3rd set in the center of the hood IF necessary.

because of the angle of the hood i would think that you should install them pointin to the side so they fit flush, i have hood pins, a different style, and i cant install the going front to back, 1/2 of the pin would be on the hood, 1/2 the pin whould be in/under the hood
Well given the fact I don't see any of us driving our cars into brush or anything that might pull the pins, I don't see a problem mounting it any which way you please. Also with the way our hoods are curved, it shouldn't be a problem mounting it either like you mentioned 86TA.

Thanks guys, never considered that aspect. I've not looked closely at them until today. Sure enough, sitting front to back they do 'rock' a little bit due to the curve.
As far as the nosing into the brush thing, maybe, just maybe, someday this car might goto the Targa Newfoundland rallye.
For now it's going to stick to the roadcourses.
Anyone know about the whole rear hatch shattering thing?
