well i wrecked my car toady.its not totaled or anythingh, but its deffenatley gonna cost a pretty penny to fix. i really dont know what happend i was putting on new headlights in my driveway and lining them up on the garage door. then i got in my car. started it and put it in drive and it took off. i was only about 20 feet away from the garge, i slammed on the breaks and it just went right through the door. the weird thing is the i didnt even touch the gas the whole time. after it went through the garage door it just keep reving up and and i thought i was gonna blow the motor so i quickly shut it off. what would cause that? ive never even heard of a car just taking off when put in drive. and the whole time i never touched the gas petal.

oh yeah and damage wise i need a new garge door... and i scraped the bumper and hood pretty good. so they need to be painted and ive got dodge viper gts blue paint on it so its not gonna be a cheap fix.

 

what is the car automatic or stick, is the throttle cable stuck?

 

This is not what happened to, probably but every once in a while my floor mat gets pushed up and get jammed into the gas pedal and when I release the gas and start to brake I'm still accelerating, I quickly step on the brake and correct the problem but it's still a little scary.

 

I too have had this happen, bouncing off the rev limiter in neutral, scarry stuff, itll freak you out.

 

the floor mat thing is a possibility because i just put new floor mats in, and this is the first time i have been in the car with them. but i dunno becuase i didnt even touch the gas. and my car is an automatic.

 

Ive heard of cars reving up like that and taking off when shifting to drive. Search the net for sudden jeep acceleration. Its more common in grand cherokees but its possible in any auto. It occurs when going fron neutral to drive and theres a sudden jump in rpm.

Yeah, it was like a huge sudden jump and i have my brake all the way to the floor and it just keep going. this sucks though considering the paint one the whole car is less then a year old, and some one backed into my door a few months back so i just got that repainted.
