Is there any springs availablle that are made specifically for fiberglass hoods?

I have a Glasstek 2" Cowl bolt on. I currently have no spring mounted on it, so when I pull the hood release nothing happens. I have to crawl underneath the car to get the hood open.

What are my options? It doesn't look like there's anywhere to mount the spring.

I welded a stock spring to a thin piece of steel plate and bolted it to the hood using the bolts for the hood latch. Works great.

Here's a pic, and the plate isn't thin (1/4" thick).

If you're worried about spring pressure / force you can do what I did. I cut 1.5 winds of the spring out (just like cutting suspension springs). That gave it less force pushing up but still pops the hood when I pull my hood release cable.
