door ground effects

i have a 1986 camaro base model, no ground effects. i had been broadsided by a grandmarquis, and now am painting the car. i have 91 rs aero ground effects to be put on, taking them off my 87 iroc parts car, and i notice the door has these, i guess you could call them brakcets or hangers, that the door ground effects hang on. i cannot figure out how to get them off, or do i even need them?

You have to remove the door panel and peel back the bottom of the water shield to get ot the bolts. There are holes in the inner door skin that you can put a deep-well socket and extension through to get the nuts off. Then, there are two "acorn" nuts; one at the very back and one at the very front, neither is behind the door panel. Remove all those and the piece should come off.
