Can anyone tell me whats involved with replacing the front bumper cover on an 87 Firebird with a 91 Formula cover?

Thanks Frank

you would have to change the bumper bar for the 91-91 it has the cut outs in them for the fog lights. you would have to get the flip lights or you can use yours and remove the plastic peace where it says pontiac on the both sides.and the only mounting probly would be were the plastic rivets go in at the bottom of the bumper but im not sure.Im still in the midle of a 91-92 swap have put on the front bumber yet.

What year front or rear bumper cover (Firebird, Trans AM or Formula) will fit my 1987. I am trying to convert my 1987 Firebird to look like a 92 Formula. Not sure what I need. I think it's the front & rear cover's and spoiler?

82-92 they will all fit the only probly i had with the 91-92 t/a back bumper was mounting problems on the bottom of the bumper.but any other back bumper should mount up.i pretty sure that firebirds have the same back bumpers as formula's. this is what you would need to do the coversion proper hood, front bumper, spioler, bumper bar,fog lights, and the head light casing.

I've got a complete nose conversion sitting in my shop waiting to go to paint. Here's what's different from pre-91-92: the cover of course, the impact bar and the absorber. I've been told you can trim the absorber material to clear the cover but I found a complete package so I'll swap instead. The cover support (piece that attaches the nose to the filler panel and holds the turn signals and hood stops on the pre 91 cars) and the headlight assemblies are different as well. The doors will interchange between the two but that's all as the mounts for the headlight bulb, plastic surrounds and adjusters are different. I'm going to use my original doors as I'm not too crazy about the "PONTIAC" in the drivers side door. The turn signals round out the list. The filler panel where the hood latch is mounted interchanges as well. I may do the rear as well later and I think it's pretty much the same deal with the cover, impact bar and absorber since the 91-92s have a different contour/profile than the 85-90s.
