can headlight frames be welded.

Engine: 350 vortec heads
Transmission: t5
Axle/Gears: 3.08 open diff
can headlight frames be welded.
i have a broken headlight in my 91 firebird.it just kinda flops around.the black metal frame is snapped in 2.it is cast but not sure if it is aluminum or some pewter crap.im a pretty good welder.does anyone know if this can be welded.
