Hood pins?
I am buying a fiberglass hood and was wondering if I could use just hood pins to hold it closed and remove the factory installed latch for weight savings and to clean up the look under my hood? Would just the pins be strong enough to hold the hood down?

Re: Hood pins?
Keep the safety latch in case the hood pins fail. You can get rid of the release cable assembly though- it's fairly common for them to become jammed anyway.

Re: Hood pins?
I installed a 4" cowl harwood bolt on hood. Used the stock latch and all.. On the top end of the drag strip (118 mph trap speed) I noticed the front corners was lifting up some
So I installed hood pins in the front.. Fixed that prob, no more lift.
Then got to thinking to save alittle weight I would pull the front latch, cable, etc off. Saved a few pounds and just the pins holds the front of hood down just as good as the pins and latch.
I don't have a "clean" picture to show you but here's one right after I drilled the holesin the fiberglass hood for the pins to fit through (so theres white dust everywhere)
