Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

i would rather look for a stamped sheet metal box instead of the fiberglass. just my preference though. i just bought mine about a week or two ago for $65 shipped from a board member. i don't think it's worth over $120

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

It looks like fiberglass or some kind of composite, but what's odd is that the auction doesn't state what it's actually made from.

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

If you can find one cheaper, go for it. Not all factory boxes were metal though, we had a 78 A-body once and it had a fiberglass factory a/c box on the wall.

do they make metal A/C (not non A/C) boxes by any chance? If so, where can you get one of these?

What's really amazing is that when you install this, your inner fenders suddenly become nicely painted, your cheap chrome valve covers turn into Edelbrocks, and your whole engine bay becomes nicely detailed.

LOL you beat me to it!! haha. I was just gonna say, man if you did all that other stuff and hit the old a/c box with paint it would look better too!

But, as said above, it is nice to have an option. I would probably go for that if nothing turned up no the boards in a few days of looking. No cleaning it up, no painting, just slap it in and go. But after spending a week building a custom HVAC box for the firewall, it will be awhile before I start looking for an A/C delete box.

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

i had thought about having some made up in fiberglass to be sold for around $100 much less and it isn't even worth the work and effort. if it's a clean and correct fitting piece $130 isn't bad.

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

well like said before, if you countes the number of threds on here with someone looking for one you would be a while.... and where it look to be fiberglass, you could modify it very easily so the factory ac blower motor would fit for a true oe installation...

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

Go to a junkyard, find an S-10 without A/C, take the box off, take it to the counter, give the man $5, go home, sand it, paint it, install it, call it a day. That's waht I did.

Pics on request.

Re: reproduction non a/c heater boxes

Ok...you've sparked my interest... Fits 100%? What blower motor do you use? the S10 one or is it the same as the thirdgen?

Consider the pics requested
