Can the rear defrost grid be removed?

Can the rear defrost grid be removed?

I'm planning on getting my rear window tinted and wondering if anyone has successfully removed the rear defrost grid or think its possible...

nope, I tried that on my original glass, it kinda comes off, but not completely.

I hated the rear defrost on my car so my only real option was to get a new non-defrost hatch glass from the JY. cost only 45$ with deck lid

i never knew they had non-defrost options availible. I'll have to keep that in mind. Ill be needing a hatch and I also dont need the defrost. Thanks for the info!
