Maybe I'm Retarded, but I forgot how to Put the T-tops in the Bag!

Got my Z28 last july and since i never drove it in the rain and always had it garaged, i Just kept the t-tops in the bag almost 24/7. Yesterday was the first time i've driven my car since last august and I couldn't get the t-tops into the bag. Every time I would try they would either fall into the deep part of the hatch or they wouldn't be fitting right in the bag so i couldn't zipper it up. Could someone please just tell me [again] how to put them in

I thought they went like this (looking from the side):

Stacked on top of eachother with the handles facing up and the little seperator piece of leather in between them...

I don't do it the way the manual says to do it because it's stupid. Why in the hell would you want to put the straps on top? Just makes it more of a pain to get the tops on and off. I have the straps on the bottom and always strapped in, just I open the bag up and put the driver top in and lay the seperator down and then get the passenger top and put it on top and then zip the bag closed. Handles go down either way.
