Hood length?

Is there any difference between the length of the hood on an 85 Iroc compared to a 91 camaro RS?

Hmmm. I don't know about that. I'm NOT a thirdgen GOD, but.... My 87 IROC has an RPO code E72 and the hood overhangs the front latch by 2 inches. I don't know what it was called, but I think it's the IROC hood.

RPO code:
E72 : BODY LENGTH, INCR I8 INCH

The hood is a couple inches longer than the stockers. this isn't the best picture of my car, but it gives you an idea of the extended hood.

i've seen it on other cars but I'm not sure what it is called.

Lol..that rpo was on my old 89 RS and it isn't a body length increase. Apparently some of the rpo's change over time and they don't results you get when decoding them now are not the same as what they once where. Your hood is simply misaligned and that is what that gap is..

All thirdgen camaro hoods are the same length.

Re: Hood length?

False. Not all hoods are the same. I have an 87 IROC hood I just put on an 82 Berlinetta and we are about 3/4 of an inch short on the front. Time to bust out the putty!

Re: Hood length?

I'll false you back! LOL, I've had an 84, 88, 90, and currently a glass 82 hood on my 92 and they all fit fine. IMO, It's all in the adjustment unless it's had work done to it.

Re: Hood length?

put the 2 hoods right next to each other and take a picture. I also think that there are "longer" hoods, but I need proof to show people it is not alignment.

I have access to 3 hoods i'll take measurements, and let you know.

Re: Hood length?

Do you really think mfg's such as Goodmark, VFN, Glastek, etc make different sizes for different years? No, at any Super Chevy Show ,etc. if you purchase a cowl hood or whatever for a Thirdgen, they'll go to the truck and grab one marked "Camaro 82-92". That's not to say there aren't minor differences between Mfg's though as that's to be expected.

Re: Hood length?

The only reason for a different length would be a bad aftermarket replacement and there are pleanty of those.

DING !!!

If somebody find "CONSISTENT" hoods for xx year that are ALL the same.
and Then diff. hoods for years xx that are longer then above said hoods. Id like to see that.

Ive got a Grant in my packet that says it wont happen.

Re: Hood length?

After noticing a plate stamped 10/98 under my hood, i guess its safe to say its an aftermarket hood.
