can a urethane enamel paint be blended? i have some bubbles on the driver's side of the a-pillar around the windshield, and i want to just spray the spot and wet sand and buff it.

btw it is a metallic black.

I haven't seen or heard of a way to blend metallic paint. The metal flakes will not be in the same concentration as they were originally, won't be oriented the same, and won't care to be shot in a tapered fashion.

The best you could do would be to reshoot the pillars and make a very quick blend right before the roof. The pillars are narrow enough that it won't stand out as bad and the windshield gives a natural horizontal line to make the change in appearance not stand out. To do things right would require repainting the roof and quarter panels. Anything less than this is going to make some kind of a visible blemish in the paint.

 

Urethane or Enamel can be "melted in"...but you've got to know what your doing. My dad melted in a repair on my brothers fender...it came out really nice. The only negative part your looking at...is that your paint is metallic. So..if you wetsand that...It'll probably end up blotchy looking..because you would be sanding the metallic out of it....unlike a solid color.

 

when i hve my 82 painted or when i help paint it anyways, i will not use metallic paint, because i already know i will want to super fine wet sand it between the last couple coats, to get more of a nice glossy mirror shiny paint surface

and plus i really just dont like the idea of metallic

why not just redo the a pillar? shouldn't be too noticeable.
