Hawk's 5in Spoiler

I have a Hawks 5inch spoiler that I want to put on, but the damn thing will not go on. I have read about people having fitment problems with this spoiler, and now I am one of them. The problem is that the bolt on the driver's side is alittle too far in. Has anybody else had this problem with the spoiler also? I do know that they are fiberglass and it's bound to vary some, but I'd like to fix it. Do you think taking a heat gun to it may be able to help so that I can get the bolt in there?

This is a pain in the *** , almost as much as getting to the bolts the top bolts that hold the sides on. I still need to prep the spoiler and fix some waves and whatnot so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had to drill new holes for mine and weld the original ones closed. Not sure how much yours is off, but I wouldn't take a heat gun or try to move the placement of the stud in the spoiler.

Re: Hawk's 5in Spoiler

Yeah I was thinking about enlarging the hole alittle bit, but am alittle uneasy about it because that might mess up gaps and whatnot, but I may be able to fix that issue if it arises.

I do want to call Hawks, but i bought the spoiler second hand from a member on here so I'm not sure how that may go. I may give it a try, hopefully they're return time wouldnt be as bad as the waves in this spoiler.

Re: Hawk's 5in Spoiler

i just put mine on yesterday and the holes are off a little too...im just going to take a file to the deck lid and see if i can widen the hole up a little...hawks kinda forgot some pieces in mine too lol like the 'placement tabs' that are supposed to help you line it up and they also forgot all the screws lol...so i'm having a bit of trouble, but look out, because they go a little staple crazy with the box, i had scratches all over mine from them, i had to sand the whole thing down to fiberglass then re prime it and repair a hole from where they managed to nail it with a staple, so you might want to look out for that lol

Give Hawk's a call and ask for help. Second hand or not they have some answers for you.

it all depends on how you want your car to look, and how much the parts you want to make your car be exactly what you want.As someone told me many years ago MONEY IS NO OBJECT(EITHER YOU GOT IT OR YOU DON'T)

Re: Hawk's 5in Spoiler

id like to stick the wing up someones a$$ at hawks!!!. i knew it was fiberglass so didnt really think i could just paint it black and have it look good but after hours of sanding and shaping and filing in half the wing with filler and making some of the mounting holes in the car larger it finally looks good.....here are some pics of what i got

i called hawks and sent them pics and said basically the car had to wrecked.....lol...thats why it dont fit right. he didnt even say anything about the huge wavy section...lol. it had a huge uncorrectable gap on the driverside from the side piece and center section and the passenger side had almost none. im not bad mouthing them but for 300 bucks i would expect way better quality. i seen alot of them that all had the huge gap on the driverside to so it just wasnt mine. lucky for me my friends dad teaches auto body and taught me and helped me do it so it looks good now. the wing looks awsome on our cars and do recomend it but my friends dad said with adding all the filler to the huge waves in the hatch piece and re shaping the side pieces to fit right and adding to the side piece just prep work and materials would cost someone 150 bucks plusto get it done at a shop. thats not even painted.
