New or Used? Front bumper cover
Who makes the best, quality bumper cover? Are Hawks covers as good as the original? Or should I just try to find an original. I'm looking for the 82-84 Berlinetta/SC non-GFX. I've found a few of them in junkyards already but they were all busted. Should I keep searching or are Hawk's covers good quality? Thanks
Re: New or Used? Front bumper cover
On cars this old...
-Well getting a new bumper cover is impossible or expensive.
-Used bumpers will be roughed up some and require a higher paint bill to fix depending on the conidition. Scuff and shoot average price is around 150$ for a quality job, cracks or waves you want repaired could easily up the price 100$ more. It all depends on what you want done and how picky you plan to be.
-Aftermarket bumper covers are cheap (100$ or so if I had to guess and all are about the same quality so go with the cheapest one IMO) and although you will save a considerable amount of dough since it just has to be painted with no additional work, you will have a hard time getting it to line up perfectly and holes for spoilers or ground effects are often not pre drilled so installation is harder.
This is just a general statement that applies to most cars (except rare or extremely old ones) so you can weigh the + and - of each.
