'87 Firebird Headlight Motors?
'87 Firebird Headlight Motors?
Ok... So I'm trying to touch up the problem areas on my car, and headlights that don't go down at all are really annoying, so they'll be one of the first things I tackle.
I don't have much mechanical aptitude - About a 2 on a 1-10 scale - But I figured I'd do what I can, so i popped the hood and had a look-see. After much looking and "Hmmmm"ing, I think I know why the lights don't go down - The motors are missing! As far as I can see, the headlights have bolts inserted in the arms that raise & lower the assembly, and I'd guess that the motors were toasted long ago, hence they met the garbage can.
As far as I can see, the connectors for the motors are still there.
Where does that leave me? How much will I have to pay to buy a right and left motor assembly, and how hard are they to install?
(I searched the forums for a sticky on this, thinking it would be a common problem, but found nothing. If you know where it is, please post a link to it.)
Thanks...

Re: '87 Firebird Headlight Motors?
They are not dificult to change. Mostly all you need is an assortment of 10 mm wrenches and sockets. It is important to get the arm going the right way so check with another firebird if possible. Check with your GM dealer as I don't remeber4 if they are still available. Used ones are a cheaper alternative but try and get a guarrentee of condition. After getting them all in and they still don't work, it may be a headlight swicth or a headlight module (black box by the brake booster) I hope this helps.
