after a week of messing w/ this thing .i finally got it perfect. i read on here about the 4 glass bolt getting gummed up ,so cleaned them all out.when i put the new lift supports on it was really out, after a while(by myself) of messing with all 8 bolts i got it to 1/4 inch overbite. then the thought occured to me that since i had to replace the lift supports how long had they been bad? (no hatch release button) every body grabbing the lip of the hatch pulling up on it ,had to pull it out.i took a rubber mallet and pound it in a little and finally it all ligned up perfectly. hope this will help someone.

 

The trunk lid is directly bolted to the rear hatch GLASS

If a hammer make it work for you then great but dont expect too many people to follow suit, rubber or not
