Install lift off hood, me or a bodyshop?
I am going to order a 3" harwood lift off cowl hood on the 1st. As soon as I sell my boat I am going to get the car painted. Should I let the body shop install the hood or should I?
I do not know if I want to go with pins or dzus fasteners. Do you rivet the mounting plates to the car or weld them? How hard is it to get everything to line up?
Thanks.

tough decision. the dzuz will "hold" the hold down far better than pins ever will. they just dont look as "good". as far as the mounting tabs for the dzuz. id pay someone to do that hole shindig. its a pretty tedious and precise process. id let them handle it and get it done right. i cant remember off the top of my head but i think its 8 length wise and 4 laterally.

its super easy to do both. If you go with the Pin route, put four across the front and 2 in the rear, possibly a support for the cowl as well. if you go for the dzuz, all you have to do is either rivet or tach the plates to the fenders, set the hood on tip, mark the location of the plates, drill holes for the fasteners, mount em and thats it. Just looks more intimidating.

as far as i know the hood pins would work.....just alot of work getting everything lined up so it dont look like the hood is setting on top of the fender bolts......let me know how it goes....im planning on putting the same hood on my car..........JEGS $285

I had a prelude I put a lift off hood on. All I did was measure the same distance from the fender to the point on the rad support. Drilled those two holes and installed the pin shafts. I then took some black paint(any color) and put a glob on either pin. Then slowly put the hood in place and press down lightly. The pins will mark their spots and you drill there. Same thing for the rear.
