Not really sure if this is the right place, but best I could think of. I am putting power windows in my car and would like to know if I should go with a new pair of window motors or if the ones that came out of the donor car will be ok? They are around 20 years old, so I am not sure how good they will be. Thanks

did you get the parts from a j/y car and don't know if they work at all or what?maybe you can get all the wiring done,and plug the motors in before you install them in the doors to find they don't work.

You should be able to bench test the motor's, to see if they work
at all. If so, the next step would be careful dis-assembly, for internal
cleaning & re-lubrication. I've done this w/ 2nd gen motor's and
good results. If your switching from manual to power, you may need
to include the regulators -- don't assume the motor will easily replace
the crank mechanism. You'll also need the main control relay,
since the bi-directional motors are not case grounded. Also be
advised that on the bench they won't sound the same in both
directions -- there's more current draw in the lifting direction.

Thanks for all the help. The motors work, but I am just not sure if there is a risk of them dying shortly after installation.

Where is the main control relay located in third gen camaros? Is it just a relay that goes in the fusebox or where the turn signal relay is?

Did you price motors yet I know the gm ones are over 100$ each. not sure on aftermarket but that might influence your decision.

I didn't replace mine when I put in the donor car regulators and they still work fine. I just used a whole tube of lithium grease on the window tracks between both doors. If you are going to replace them, spend the money and get new GM motors.

I was considering replacing them if the cheaper motors on ebay would work, but I don't really trust something that cheap. I think I will pass on replacing the motors if the current ones work properly. What is the relay you are talking about and how might I get a hold of one?

I've heard the eBay motors don't last and aren't worth your money.

Titan85, are you wiring these up yourself or are you using a factory harness?

I made my own wiring harness. I purchased the plugs for the switches from Modern Day Muscle and got the window motor connectors from a donor car along with the regulators and motors. Just trying to figure out where to wire it to the fusebox and what relay I need
