dent

my 89 rs was hit it the driveway this morning. there is a dent in the door and the quarter panel. the dent in the door is more severe then the one in the quarter panel. what is the best way to fix dents? i holding the guy that did the damage responsible for the repairs. i dont care how much he spends fixing it or how is it fixed, but the car has to be repaired to the pre-incident condition. im not happy right now. another problem is that i let him borrow my blazer to go to work. he had to leave for work early. so he hit my car with my truck. i dont really know what to do. i haven't spoken with him yet, he is still at work. another issue i have with the whole incident is that last night someone else had parked in my spot. when i came home last night, i had to park close to my truck. i think he turned the steering wheel to soon and hit the camaro with the front pass corner of my bumper. my car is very clean, a southern car that has never seen a winter, what is the best advice you guys can give my to repair the damage.

Re: dent

take the car to the body shop, if you want it just the way it was before then get a good door from junk yard and paint it to match, as for the dent on quarter panel, if it's rear one then body shop will have to weld pins to where the dent is and pull the dent out then put thin layer of bondo, smooth it out and paint to match which will be very hard especially if the paint that on the car is old. Get him to repaint the whole car and fix the damage. If it's the front quarter then replace with good one and paint to match
good luck

Re: dent

i spoke with the guy that damaged the car. he says his mother knows somebody that works for paint medic. im hoping the door is able to be repaired. this is a southern car and ive never driven it in the winter. the door is solid otherwise. the dent is not severe. if it can be properly repaired i would rather keep it. if i go to the junk yard im sure to find junk. i live in buffalo and most camaros and end up in the junk yard are there becuase they were driven in the winter. the salt takes its toll, i dont want something thats rusted. he assured me whatever the cost he will pay to get it repaired. the damage in was also in the rear quarter.

Re: dent

do you have a picture of the damage? if he is willing to pay whatever it takes to fix it then take the car to professionals body shop. It's not hard to pull the dents out but it is going to cost some to get the paint to match and feather in(usually takes a pro to feather in). In this situation usually what is done(to my knowledge) is the dent on the door would be pulled out then smoothed out with bondo, then clear coat on the rest of the door will be slightly sanded and damaged spot painted with new clear coat on the whole door. Same with rear quarter.
It might cost about $200-500 to do(that is my guess, there is a good chance that it could be more expensive or cheaper)
