paint bubbling a little on floor
i lifted up my rug to do an "inspection" on my floor. i found its very very solid, absolutely no rust. however i noticed i have several spots about the size of a quarter where the paint has bubbled and paint is coming off in these few small areas. i am concerned about this. i dont want my floor to rust
. i hate rust with a passion. metal is like new where the paint came off. not even surface rust. i think what might have happened is that this spring i did new wheel cylinders to the car. i had a container of brake fluid on the floor in the back. damn fluid leaked out of the container with the cap on tight
. i tried my best to clean the crap out of the rug but it already soaked in. my carpet is crap, im not concerned out the rug, i am concerned about what is under the rug. the area that i lifted the carpet up was in the front. is it possible that brake fluid did this? i eventually want to replace my carpet but for now i just want to seal it back up so it doesnt start to rust. do i have to remove my carpet to repaint good enough to seal it off from moisture? does brake fluid eventually dry up? if this is a result of brake fluid then my carpet could be contaminated. should i lay plastic down to created a barrier between the rug and the metal of the floor. or should i just apply quick coat of paint down and not worry too much about it until i get a replacement rug? i am deffently going to invest in a set of rubber floor mats. I NEED TO KEEP MY FLOOR SOLID AT ANY COST. these things rust from the inside out. i dont drive my car in the winter at all, but the i do drive it in the rain.
